Besides her acting career, Lamarr was also known for her inventions and innovations, including a signal that aided the Allied Powers in World War II by disrupting torpedoes operated by radio. Her life was showcased in the 2017 documentary Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, produced by Susan Sarandon and aired on PBS. Lamarr’s audio tapes in the documentary revealed her unique perspective on life and work, stating that inventions came easily to her despite people underestimating her intelligence.
