Excitedly anticipating the upcoming event, Shakira shared a post on social media asking her followers to guess which song she’s referencing in her pose. The renowned singer previously received her first MTV VMA for her hit Ojos Asi in the category of International Viewer’s Choice. In 2006, she was presented with her third Moon Person trophy for Best Choreography for the beloved Hips Don’t Lie music video. Shakira’s most recent VMA win was in 2007 when she collaborated with Beyoncé on the chart-topping Beautiful Liar. The star-studded VMAs lineup also includes performances by Demi Lovato, Karol G, MÃ¥neskin, and Stray Kids.

Other artists with multiple nominations include Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, BLACKPINK, Diddy, and Shakira. This year’s list of nominees features a record-breaking number of first-time nominees, with 35 newcomers including Ice Spice, GloRIlla, Petras, and boygenius.
